Winter Workshops Were a Huge Success!

What: Three-Day COLLAGE WORKSHOP on the Space Coast of FL
Date/Time: January 11-13, 2022, 9am – 4pm

Join artist Derek Gores in his semi-secret studio, located in the Eau Gallie Arts District of Melbourne, FL, for a three-day workshop using recycled magazines and more. Derek will start with brief collage exercises to introduce you to the concepts of collage, as well as build your skills and understanding for a longer project the second and third day. In this longer project, Derek will share his approach to his signature style. For this piece, Derek suggests a still life or single object as a subject, but don’t worry if you haven’t selected an idea before the class – Derek will help you find a worthy subject. Derek will assist you in opening your mind to the possibilities of new textures, meanings, and spatial depth in your work. He will demo and lead the discussion, which will include a touch of art history as a bonus!

All experience levels are welcome. Seats are limited and will sell out! Supply list and lodging recommendations available upon registration.

What: WET AND WILD DRAWING WORKSHOP on the Space Coast of FL
Date/Time: January 14- 15, 2022, 9am – 4pm

Don’t miss this highly sought-after class with Derek Gores in his semi-secret studio in the Eau Gallie Arts District of Melbourne, FL. During this two-day workshop, you will learn to develop an intuitive touch in your drawing. Derek will demonstrate and lead you in exploratory mark-making and in countless drawings. Using water and charcoal, you’ll enhance your speed, accuracy, and sensitivity. Derek recommends wet drawing as the perfect bridge between drawing and painting. Two of the most common requests among art students are to learn to ‘loosen up’ and to become ‘more accurate’, and this method addresses both. Subject matter will include abstract, spatial drawing, and especially the figure (a model will be provided). All experience levels are welcome. Seats are limited and will sell out! Supply list and lodging recommendations available upon registration.
