CREATE YOUR WORLD Summer Art Camp, produced by Derek Gores Gallery, fosters your young artist to be creative and inspired by fresh challenges, new tools, and exciting art media. Our experienced art instructors share their techniques and materials with each camper while teaching these young artists to always be encouraged by and to add in their own personalities and ideas. Expect an exciting mix of paint, 3D, kinetic art, collage, printmaking, drawing, mixed media, and beyond. In addition, each day has plenty of time for movement, outdoor activity, and creativity.
AND: Each week, camp producer and local artist Derek Gores will visit the kids to talk about creativity, favorite colors, second favorite colors, adventure drawing, why cats rule, how to write your name on a 6-sided piece of paper, and much more.
PLUS: Each week we invite a local artist to visit the camp and teach the young maestros a thing or three. Past visitors include Jamie Meagher, Danielle Henn, Steve Monroe, Evelina Petrenko, Andrea Castaneda, Joan Taddie, Sarah Peck, Noah Cook, Marty Mercado, Connor Bea, and more. Expect even more this year!
WHY ART CAMP? Art benefits everyone! Instructors teach skills, but it is our aim to nurture the adventurous creative spirit that kids naturally possess. Projects are designed to prompt original, creative thinking, so results will be wholly unique. The confidence, outside-the-box thinking, and joy will serve your child in any future pursuits. We have FUN and teach serious CREATIVE SKILLS while we’re at it.

WEEK 1: Invent the Future: Bots & Beyond (JUNE 16-19)
Dream up tomorrow’s tech and the worlds it shapes. Design robots, gadgets, vehicles, and futuristic cities through sketching, model-building, sculpture, and mixed media invention. Imagination meets innovation.
WEEK 2: Game On! (JUNE 23-26)
Design, create, play. Hands-on projects inspired by your favorite games or create your own. Design new characters, and playable prototypes using illustration, 3D builds, design, and hands-on materials. If you can imagine it, you can play it.
WEEK 3: In The Wild (JUNE 30- JULY 3)
Venture into forests, oceans, and untamed landscapes. Create art inspired by amazing animals, habitats, and nature scenes using paint, sculpture, and more. Get messy, experimental, and wildly creative.
WEEK 4: Theme Park Design Lab (JULY 14-17)
Step right up and into the designer’s chair to create your very own land of rides, snacks, games, and characters. Then, bring them to life through sketches, dioramas, and kinetic movement. Theme park thrills, creative storytelling, and epic design collide.
WEEK 5: Glow Lab & Alien Encounters (JULY 21-24)
Step into a neon world and galaxies far away. Create glowing masterpieces, cosmic scenes, strange lifeforms, and luminous designs with paint, bold color, sculpture, and experimental materials. It’s a whole mood!
WEEK 6: Mini Worlds AND Build it Big! (JULY 28-31)
Think tiny… think big! Craft pocket-sized places, miniature scenes plus larger-than-life creations and murals… using mixed media and clever construction. Whether big or small, we will spark huge imagination!
WEEK 7: Fantasy Realms (AUG 4-7)
Enter worlds of dragons, heroines, mythical creatures, and magical lands. Design maps, artifacts, characters, and epic scenes through drawing, painting, sculpture, and immersive builds. Your imagination makes the rules.

- Add-On: Extended Care - "Before Camp" ( 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM ) $15/day or $60/week
- Add-On: Extended Care - "After Camp" ( 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM ) $20/day or $80/week
