THE SURREALIST GAMES Workshops: Adult Workshop: Saturday March 12th, 9-4pm $95.  Email projects@derekgores.com to register. Kids (ages 8-17) Workshop  Saturday March 19th, 9-12pm $35. Participants are asked to bring sketchbook, wear messy clothes and bring their favorite art making supplies.  The surrealists often played a game called “The Exquisite Corpse” which combines random heads, bodies and feet to produce a surprising creation.  In The Surrealist Games, participants will use the process of “The Exquisite Corpse” as inspiration for visual surprises, improvised landscapes, and encounters with the strange beautiful corners of our minds.  Workshop lead by Danielle Horak, who earned her BA in Studio Art with University of Florida and is currently pursuing her MA in Art Education with the University of Florida.  Her research focuses on play as the origin of art making.

LECTURE “Women of Surrealism: Embracing the Irrational” Saturday March 26th, 11am-12pm, $10. Carla Funk, Florida Tech’s Director of University Museums will present on this fascinating topic.  Surrealist cocktails will be served.
